Happy Playoff week! Congratulations to all those that made it to their league’s playoffs. We are only a couple of weeks away from the end of the NFL season but we still have a few matchups to sort out.
Another week that the risky picks did not pan out. We went 1–3 last week, which makes us fall to 14–13 for the season. As for the teams picked, Raiders and Packers got to 30 points although Green Bay didn’t hit the over while Chiefs and Vikings were also shy of their mark. Let’s recap how each of our players did.
Hit: Robert Tonyan. He got in the end zone for a third consecutive week and easily outscored his projection.
Misses: Hunter Renfrow, Kyle Rudolph and Sammy Watkins. Renfrow came a point shy of his projection, Rudolph went back to being a non significant asset in the Vikings offense and Watkins just had an ok day against Denver.
This week we are going to pick starters that you might be considering leaving on the bench. To do that we will pick from three teams of the 30-Point Scoring Club.
Buccaneers (30.5 over/under)
After his best yard output of the season and a full week of rest, Rob Gronkowski is the tight end we are going to pick this week. ‘Gronk’ is averaging nearly six targets a game since Week 3 and has six games in double digit points in that span. A good matchup in a 52 point over/under bodes well to surpass his projection of 10.4 points.
Titans (30.5 o/u)
This might be a no-brainer, nonetheless, let’s emphasize what a stud Corey Davis has been this season and why we can trust he will score more than the 14.1 points he is projected. First, he is facing the Jaguars, a team that just allowed 17 catches for 196 yards and two touchdowns to Jefferson and Thielen last week. Then, Davis has scored in double digits every single game he’s been active this season, on top of coming off his best game of the season in yards and targets. So, yeah, Corey Davis is as much of a sure thing as you can get from a WR2.
Packers (32.5 o/u)
The Packers offense has been averaging 34 points over the last three weeks on the back of an MVP-type performance by Aaron Rodgers. They also seem to be slowly working Allen Lazard back into the lineup, after the core injury that put him on IR. This is why a matchup against the Detroit Lions might be the perfect medicine to get him back in shape for their playoff run. With at least four targets since he came back, we are confident he can get to his 9.7 projection.
